Jamwich love: 2008.
One week from today, I will be sleeping soundly in my double pink tent after walking over 40 miles. With 20 more to go the next day, you can bet my feet and legs are going to be aching. But it’s going to be so worth it!
I have been assigned a random tentmate this year since I’ll be traveling to D.C. alone, and I was excited to find my tentmate on the 3-Day site. Way to go with your fundraising, Roz, we are going to have a great time!
Once I figure out my newfangled contraption (i.e. my Blackberry), I’ll be twittering during pit stops and lunch breaks to let everyone know how the walk is going and to update on my mileage! What would we do without social media? (Wait…probably communicate in person more!)
I am slowly gathering my things and feel much more prepared than last year in terms of what to pack, though I still have that funny feeling in my gut, just like the first time – like…what am I doing? Am I nuts? This is 60 miles, I must be insane! But then I was going through my Camelbak pack from last year, and I found my lanyard and old credentials – with the picture I carried of my mom, and I was for sure reminded of why I am walking once again.
Finally, I must make an ode to the Jamwich – dear Jamwich, you are made of sugary jelly, oily peanut butter, and what is probably not even real bread – but you are delicious, and you lack crust, and you helped carry me through each pit stop during last year’s walk. I hope to meet you again this year (well, my stomach does).
So – one week – D.C., here I come (again!).
Check back before then, and thank you again for your support!
